Highlights of my life 2004-2013

Posted on October 8, 2014 by Erika Scott

I’ve been thinking about my life the last couple of days, thinking back to some of the “big” moments I had. So I decided why not post some of the best parts of my life. Since I don’t want to track too far back, we’ll just jump to 2004.

August 2004– Went to Penhold Air Cadet Camp.Penholdforblog2005- I first moved out of my parent’s house when I was about 15 years old, I moved from our acreage to a place in town with my dog Newfie. I had a job working at the A&W full-time, and I was taking my high school courses from Outreach. Living alone meant I didn’t have to answer to anyone about my whereabouts, even though I spoke to my mom every day. My schedule consisted of me either skipping school, or attending then leaving with my friends. (I didn’t really have any interest in doing my school work, unless it was about topics I was interested in such as “Parenting”, “Child care”, or “Psychology” which I was very good at.) After I would head to my job, after work I would usually go hangout with people I thought were my friends at the time, and do stupid things that I wasn’t into doing, just to feel like I was part of a group. Living alone was short lived.
September 2006– I went and met Dalton and his best friend in Brandon, Manitoba. This was the first time I had seen Dalton since 2004, when we met at Penhold, Alberta for Air Cadet camp.
December 2006– I was living with my mom, and siblings in a townhouse we had just moved to in Edmonton, Alberta. Dalton came out to Alberta from Manitoba for the first time ever for Christmas at our house. Dalton, my sister, and I decided to colour a Christmas tree on a piece of paper and tape it to the wall then put our gifts under the tree instead of setting up a real one.
March 2008- Dalton, my mom, my sister and I went on our first cruise from Long Beach, California to Puerta Vallarta; Mazatlan; and Cabos San Lucas.forhighlightsblogApril 2008– I found out I was pregnant. I don’t really fall into the first pregnancy “teen mom” category, I got pregnant for the first time when I was 17 years old, a couple weeks shy of my 18th birthday.
December 25th, 2008– Keera was born.KeeraandIwhensheborn.
June 4th, 2009
– The day we found out Newfie had passed away. (Back-story: While we were growing up my step dad had brought us home a dog, he was about 6 months old and he looked like a full grown dog already. Not knowing at the time that he was a Landseer Newfoundlander breed, we all agreed to name him Newfie. He was considered the family dog, but he was really mine. 😉 I loved him more then anything, he was my first “baby”, he was the best and no dog in my future will ever compare to him. He was a very large dog but he wouldn’t hurt a fly, when we lived on our acreage during the winter he would let the other dogs, and cats sleep next to him. I remember often I would go to school on the bus smelling like dog, covered in drool because I just had to make sure I gave him a kiss before we left.)newfieAugust 8th, 2009– I shaved off all my hair to raise money for people with special needs.indexshavedheadMay 2010– I graduated from high school. It might have been 2 years late but I had a child and I still got my full high school diploma, I’m PROUD of myself.graduationJuly 12th, 2010– My sister and I moved into our first apartment together in Edmonton, AB
June 19th, 2011– Zaden was born.Zaden+bornAugust 14th, 2011– Dalton proposed to me.
June 26th, 2012– I moved from Edmonton to Calgary, Alberta.
December 24th, 2012– I fell down the stairs, broke my leg and tore my ankle. Stayed in the hospital until December 26th missing Keera’s 4th birthday.legandankleinfection
