Just a quick post here, I know I haven’t been around the blog much. July’s just been one of those months where a lot is happening, and a lot of stuff isn’t happening. Be warned this post is going to be bouncing all over the place. I just want to try to get you guys up to speed about where we are, and what’s happening.
July 3rd we took the kids to the splash park, a long with a couple of their friends. We ended up spending several hours there, then the kids got bored with it. So we headed over to the nearby park. The older kids were running around, and poor Emilee couldn’t keep up with them. There was two different play structures, one short and for toddlers around Em’s age. The other was taller than me, and was meant for the bigger kids. I did my best to distract Emilee, but she just really wanted to go on the “big kid” slides. She probably went down those slides more than a dozen times. Once we finished up we headed over to good ole McDonald’s, the kids had supper. Zaden’s friends mom wanted to do something for Zaden’s birthday, even though we already celebrated. She insisted that she get everyone ice cream cones, and sing him happy birthday. It was a really nice gesture, and it made Zaden feel special so I was good with it.The next day was Keera and Zaden first day at Bible camp. It’s the first time I’ve ever sent them to any type of camp, even though it was just during the day I think it was good for them. They spent the week learning all sorts of interesting things, about caves, rocks, etc. At the end of the week, they each got a tee, and were supposed to sing and dance at a “concert”. I thought the “concert” was poorly planned. Instead of the kids singing and dancing facing the adults, they had their backs to us. I handled that just fine, since I ended up standing up and moving to watch. However they had an audio disk playing of other kids singing the same songs, and everyone was watching a projected movie of those kids up on the wall. So I guess I don’t see the point of it? Keera and Zaden didn’t seem to care, they were singing and dancing away. Keera’s eager to go back next summer, and I think it will be really good for her. She’s getting older now, and she’s starting to enjoy different thing. I just hope that they have a better youth group in charge of the activities. Every time Keera and Zaden left Emilee would throw a crying fit, she really wanted to go. Unfortunately she won’t be able to go until she turns five. We did some fun things while the bigs were away, and she always greeted them with a hug when they got home.
My bigs went for a weekend sleep over, and Emilee and I got to go to a Stampede breakfast with my mom. The next day was 7/11. For those of you that don’t know what that is, it’s the day they give out free small Slurpee’s at 7/11. It’s most definitely something you want to enjoy on a hot summer day, and it’s even better because it’s free. July 16th, we took the kids to see Finding Dory, we got to sit in recliner seats. I’ve been waiting to see this movie for the longest time. The kids love Finding Nemo, so I’m happy I was able to take them to see this one on the big screen!July 17th, I started on my new weight-loss/ fitness journey, which I’m totally rocking by the way. On the 21st Keera and Zaden went to a French camp for the week. They both had a blast and they might go back for another week sometime in August. July 28th, we went to Freestone Produce Inc here in Calgary. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I love this place. It’s super awesome, and you can usually buy produce super cheap in bulk.We ended up getting a good loot of stuff. Whenever we go there I always get a ton of tomatoes, the kids and I love tomatoes. There’s also so many things you can make with them. One of the many things you can do with them is dice them up, and put them in the freezer for later. The next time you want to make a chilli, or even salsa just take a ziplock/container out and it’s ready to go. This time we got some peaches, and grapes too. The grapes make a quick snack to keep the kids out of the kitchen in between meals. Of course we got some blackberries too. They go good for snacking, or you can freeze them for smoothies. Banana’s are always a must in our house, I like to eat them after my workouts. I can put them in a smoothie, or even make the kids some banana chocolate chip muffins. It’s all about thinking healthy, and getting a good value for your dollar!!
