It’s been a busy week, first I had to go to Keera’s class for Father’s Day click here. Then we went to Zaden’s preschool graduation here. As if that wasn’t enough, today is Zaden’s fifth birthday. It’s official he’s not a toddler anymore, he’ll be off to kindergarten in September. It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating his fourth birthday, if you want to see what we did last year click here. This year was a lot more mellow, and we’ve been trying to focus birthday’s less on material things. So on the kids birthday’s they only get three gifts from us, this doesn’t count the gifts from other people. The kids are actually awesome about it, they don’t ask for much year-round or even on their birthday.I try to do my best to, buy the kids their birthday gift at least two weeks before the big day. This year I was really slacking on Zaden’s birthday. I had less than a week to get his cake and all of his presents. I knew that he’d been wanting Skylander’s and Lego game stuff. If you know anything about Skylander’s though, you’d know that there’s a ton of pieces. It can get pretty overwhelming, you usually have to buy everything separately. I wasn’t sure where to start, but I figured I should know what it is before I even consider buying it for him. After doing a bit of researching, I was planning on buying him the Skylander starter pack. It has the basic’s to get him started, then later on we could add to the collection if we wanted. I googled to see which places would possibly have it on sale. No one had it on sale, but I kept looking around. The next day I got on the computer and checked out the Best Buy website.. Someone was definitely looking out for me, the Skylander starter pack was on sale. It wasn’t one of those silly five dollars off sales either, they had it on sale for 49$ cheaper than the original price. We called to make sure they had one left, and we headed right over to go pick it up. I was over the moon excited, for once procrastinating on purchasing something actually saved me money. I forgot to get Zaden’s cake ordered, so we went to check out what the nearby DQ had. Zaden’s still going through his superhero phase, which I’m really starting to think isn’t just a phase. So once we seen the Spider-Man cake, I knew it would be perfect. I’m sure we’ll have enough cake to last us almost, if not all of the summer lol.
This morning we went to the Dollarama, because no birthday celebration is right without a tablecloth, cups, and plates. Of course we’re dealing with a five-year old here, he didn’t want anything to match. Zaden picked out a Minion table-cloth, Star Wars cups, Paw Patrol plates. Keera and Emilee were excited about the variety of stuff too. Zaden ended up getting a Sonic the hedgehog game from his sisters. It’s the retro one with all the old school games that I used to play when I was a kid. I got him the Skylander’s starter pack, and his mémé got him the Lego Movie Video game. Once again we celebrated a successful birthday, and he loved all of his gifts. I would love if time slowed down now, at least while I catch my breath. 😛
