I love going to the movies, and most things that go along with it. I love watching a movie on the big screen, with a fountain drink and layered popcorn in hand. Yes I’m that person, I ask them to layer my popcorn in butter I don’t care about the calories. Then I take it one step further, and add peanut M&Ms to it it’s the perfect combination. I’m there to enjoy myself.. but I used to be the kind of person that was uncomfortable going to the movies alone. Mostly for the fact that, up until a couple of years ago I never went to the movies alone. A lot has changed since than, including the prices at the theater. Now it’s really expensive to go to the movies, it’s easily 30 plus dollars and that’s if you go alone. Which means my movie going has drastically dropped, unless I have tickets or scene points. So one day I noticed at work a paper posted, they were hosting a free movie night for the night and day staff. I was eager to get my name down on the list, considering there was limited spots and it would be at the theater down the road. We went to see “Captain America: Civil War“. I got there half an hour before the movie was supposed to start, and the person organizing the event gave me my ticket. She then told me the second part of the ticket was to get me a free drink and popcorn! It caught me off guard, I thought I was going to have to pay for that myself. Once I got to the concession stand, I told the guy to layer my popcorn and that I would pay the difference. He said that my work was covering the cost. That’s about the time I started to feel guilty about bringing my peanut M&Ms in bag from home, that feeling didn’t last long.
Once they finished cleaning out the theater they started to let us in, I was one of the few people to get in first. I was once again shocked, they not only rented a theater they rented a theater with the reclining seats! To a lot of people this might not seem like a big deal, but I’ve never been in a theater that had reclining seats fancy. There was only three other people in the theater at this point, besides myself so I had my pick of any seat I wanted. I decided on a seat in the middle row, in the middle of the theater the perfect spot to see the whole screen. We had to wait another ten minutes until the movie was going to start, about six minutes to seven the theater started to fill up quick.
Then exactly at 7pm the movie began, I’ve got to say that’s the only thing I didn’t like. I’m not much for TV commercials, but I love watching the commercials at the theater. Overall it was a really awesome relaxing free night out, I’ve never been so comfy watching a movie before. I’m excited to see what else we get to do in the future. 🙂
