This afternoon after school Keera gave me the Valentine’s Day card she made me at her school. Every year I love when she makes stuff for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day it’s something I look forward to receiving. This year Keera decided to give me my Valentine early, because she’s off with Zaden to spend the weekend at their grandpa’s house. Quick topic change here… Keera’s school started this thing were they don’t address things to “mom and dad” anymore, because some families don’t have both parents or they have special circumstances. Which I think is really nice and it works in my favour, because a lot of the time I used to receive stuff saying “Cher maman et papa” which means “Dear mom and dad”. This year it meant a lot to me when I got this Valentine and it didn’t say “papa” on it. In French a lot of people call their dad “papa”, but my kids call one of their grandpa’s “papa” instead. I’m not sure how it started but it stuck, so it was really nice when her Valentine came this year and it said “Dear parents” on it. Since it’s in French let me translate what her Valentine’s card says “Dear parents, you light up my life. Thank-you for buying me a computer, it’s Valentine’s Day and I wanted to wish you a happy Valentine’s Day. From Keera”. I really wanted to do something fun instead of just sitting at home, even though I’m a mom that doesn’t mean I can’t go out on Friday night within reason of course. However it was already after 8 pm and I was going to have Emilee with me, so I decided we’d go grab some frozen yogurt. It was both Em and my first time going to “Menchie’s“, it’s a self-serve frozen yogurt place. You grab the size of bowl that you want, and you choose which flavour(s) you want. You can even mix the flavours if you want, there’s no limit to how much you put in your bowl. Once your done that you go and choose from the toppings, there’s a huge candy bar and even a fruit bar area with well over a dozen choices. Once you are done filling up your bowl, you go up to the till and place your bowl on the scale. You pay whatever the price is based on how much your full bowl weighs, so it’s the perfect place to go if you just want a small treat. I thought it would be a good idea for Emilee and I to share a bowl, and I’m glad that we did because I put way too much in the bowl. It was so delicious, we just got chocolate yogurt and some nerds.
What’s something that you enjoy doing on the weekend with or without your munchkin(s)?
