This afternoon instead of dropping Zaden off at preschool like we normally do, we all went in with him. His teacher told us that today the kids were going to have their Christmas concert. There was a sign up sheet last week for what snacks each parent wanted to bring, and it was our job to bring some juice. Once we got there we set the stuff down on the snack table, and all the parents, siblings even a couple grandparents sat on the chairs while the students sat on the floor. They sang us a couple of songs, including doing some cute dance moves. I’m impressed with how well-behaved Zaden was during the whole thing, he listened and did exactly what the teacher said to do. He showed off his singing and dancing skills, I’m super proud.Afterwards we were told the students and siblings were going to be decorating each their own gingerbread cookie. They each got their own containers: one of icing, one of sprinkles, and another with smarties. My mom helped Zaden and Emilee spread out their icing on their cookies so it wasn’t just a huge clump of icing. Zaden surprised me by decided to make three buttons, two eyes and a mouth on his gingerbread cookie; but then he finished off by doing something totally predictable like dumping a bunch of sprinkles on top. Emilee took a much more toddler approach, by dumping whatever she could get her hands on onto her cookie.Once everyone finished decorating their cookies, we all sang happy birthday to one of Zaden’s friends. He has a Christmas birthday just like Keera, and his mom really wanted his friends to be around to celebrate with him. So she brought a cupcake cake…I know how it is and it sucks when everyone’s so wrapped up in Christmas day, they don’t get the focus or attention like everyone else does on their birthday. We all enjoyed cupcake cake with a mountain of icing on it {hello sugar-rush!} and the rest of the snacks on the snack table. One of the mom’s made those Grinch snacks, I’ve seen them on Pinterest and really wanted to give it a try. Basically it’s green grapes, strawberries and marshmallows and you put them on a toothpick so that they look like a Grinch wearing a Christmas hat. It’s not exactly all it’s cracked up to be like on Pinterest but good none the less. Zaden made a Christmas ornament with his class a week before, I’m excited to get it home and put it up on the tree! When everyone was done eating all the goodies, and us parents cleaned up the mess. The kids each got to make a beaded necklace, I rarely see Zaden this focused on something and he was pretty proud of the finished product. He’s always so interested in absorbing as much knowledge as he can.
I thought it was nice for Zaden to be able to do something fun with his friends, and for Emilee to be able to interact with other kids besides her siblings. The bonus is I even got to have some adult talk with some of the parents, which is nice. When I’m at work I do get to talk to other adults, but a lot of them aren’t parents so the conversation is usually different.
**As you will notice in the pictures above, people have their face covered. I did this out of respect for the parents since I don’t have permission to show their child or even their face on my blog.**
