Tonight my daughter had her school Christmas concert. It’s her third Christmas concert since she started school, so she’s just starting to come out of her shell. I was really looking forward to going to watch her sing. Except when we got there after we had found a spot, it was nearly impossible to see her. I had to stand up from my spot and move, just so I could see her while she was performing. That’s when I noticed all the different types of annoying people, {I’m well aware that people probably find me annoying in some way too but C’est La Vie!}:
The Seat Saver:
This person is always at the concert early and reserves the first two to three rows. They invite the siblings, the aunts, the uncles, the grandparents, their friends, the neighbor, even the random guy at the grocery store. Their goal is to have as many people as they can come and watch their child(ren) perform. The sad thing is half the people they invite take up the spots, and they don’t even want to be there. Some of them spend the whole time with their eyes glued to their cellphone and or video game; then some others even end up falling asleep!
The Compulsive Photographer:
This person insists on getting as close as they can to the stage, often blocking everyone’s view. They usually don’t care that they are blocking someones sight either. They don’t just take a couple of pictures, they take so many pictures that it actually ends up blinding the students performing. I’m all for taking pictures of your child(ren), but maybe let the rest of us be able to see and take pictures of our kid(s) too.
The Ringing Cell Phone And Talker:
This person usually has their cellphone on the loudest volume possible, despite being told to turn their phone on vibrate or off before the performance begins. Their cellphone usually goes off in the middle of the concert, the most annoying ringtone ever. Instead of being courteous and sending it straight to voicemail, they let it ring then answer it. One would think they would then get up and leave the room, because you know that would be the polite thing to do. But no they sit there with their behinds attached to their seat, talking as loud as they possibly can. More often than not they end up talking to someone about when they are leaving for vacation, or how the weather is…stuff that CAN wait until later.
The Bragger:
This person spends the whole entire concert talking about how perfect their kid(s) are. They don’t applaud the whole class, they don’t point out if anyone else was good. They only want the spot light on their kid(s), they usually complain that their kid doesn’t get more stage time then the other kids because they “deserve it”.
The Excuse Maker:
I’m not talking about the parents that show up late, I’m talking about the parents that show up ten minutes before the concert’s over. They show up ten minutes before the concerts done, and they complain they didn’t get to see their child(ren) perform. We all get it sometimes life just happens, and things are out of your control causing you to run late. However it seems to always be the same parents over and over again, and their usual excuse is always the same thing.
Have you noticed any of these people at your kid(s) Christmas concert? Do you have any to add to the list?
