Today was a fantastic day to add to the books! We started off the late morning with a Chocolate Strawberry smoothie [Nesquik chocolate milk powder, some strawberries and milk], then we headed over to scope out Zaden’s new preschool. As I mentioned in my blog last year we had enrolled Zaden in playschool,(note these are two different places) the person in charge of running his previous playschool told us all these wonderful things about how the teachers do crafts, teach the kids to speak/learn french, have a story time, etc. They over sold and under delivered on what they said they would do. A couple other things that rubbed me the wrong way, was when we were talking to other parents about the preschool fees. A lot of parents who enrolled their child a week, some even two weeks before us were paying more for their monthly fees then we were. The person in charge of the playschool was telling them she was giving them a “discount”, I know we were paying less than the other parents but the fact that everyone wasn’t paying the same price seemed a bit crooked to me. I thought the “teachers” were very unprofessional as well. We got invited on Halloween to go observe the kids go “trick or treating” and the preschool teachers were ignoring the kids to take selfies. They seemed more interested in how cute their costumes were, then what the kids were doing. We decided that the playschool just wasn’t worth how much they were charging. Especially since they did none of what they said they would, and so we un-enrolled Zaden at the end of December.Anywho’s enough about that, and back to the NEW preschool. This preschool is right near my daughter’s school, the same school Zaden will be attending kindergarten at next year. This is a full french preschool, it’s perfect to help Zaden get comfortable in an environment similar to the one he’ll have next year. We arranged for us to go scope it out and fill out the enrollment paperwork today. I’m super happy to say that he loves it, even Emilee loved it and didn’t want to leave! They have so much stuff, but everything seems to be organized and have its own place. The teacher’s were interacting with Zaden the moment we got there and it didn’t feel fake like his previous playschool. I enjoyed the teachers very much, as did Zaden. This year there are three teachers, and only 4-5 kids total in the class. It’s perfect he’ll be getting one on one attention twice a week. This playschool will help him improve his french, and “classroom etiquette”. Zaden has always had a lot of energy, and he loves to play and talk. His previous playschool said he had a “behaviour” problem because he couldn’t sit still for longer than 2 minutes, I believe that’s simply because they couldn’t keep up with his energy level. What 3-year-old sits still for 2 minutes, when they aren’t engaged in an activity that interests them? Funny enough he had no issues concentrating on one thing when we were checking out this playschool. Lol, then again he’s 4 now.
Later this evening as I was making supper, Keera and Zaden told me they wanted to show me something. I turned around and they were dancing together…so precious. I can’t take credit for teaching them that, I’m not sure where they learned it from but it was adorable either way.
Just thinking about my kids, I can’t even express how truly blessed I am to have such amazing children. They give my life meaning and even if they sometimes press my buttons I know I couldn’t imaging life without them.
What’s some thing you did today? What’s your favourite thing about your child(s) playschool/daycare/school?
